Your Summer Style Remodeling Guide
Learn about different factors to consider in your summer remodeling plans.
It’s summertime, and if you like to keep your home remodeling on par with the seasons, you’ll want to read about NCDC’s considerations for this summer! Below, we briefly explain what to expect about California’s heat and what you should have in mind for your flooring choice.
California Summer:
Summer is no simple matter here in California. Whether you are from the northern or southern sides of the state, your weather experience is different. If you're over on the northern side, you might be experiencing some fresh weather, unlike southern Californians, who may experience more damp conditions due to the heat. Nonetheless, California’s weather diversity is widely known, and we know that what you need at home is something that can either keep up with the heat or imitate the cool breeze you’d like in your home.
The SPACE:
Outside or inside your home, the difference matters. To pick the right product, consider the differences between the product types and whether they will meet your interior or exterior’s needs. For example, are you going for hardwood floors? If so, maybe you have to worry about its acclimation needs. Acclimation is a physical change that occurs in products made with natural materials. Products that may experience acclimation also include laminate and vinyl. As such, your hardwood floors may go through expansion either in the winter or summertime. At Nueva Casa de Ceramica, we have various non-acclimated products, meaning they don’t change as natural wood floors would. In our product recommendations, you can see some options you might like if you’re interested in this type of flooring product.
Besides acclimation, if you’re looking for something that can keep up with the heat, you may want to look at what stone tile, marble, and quartz products offer. Your home interior can be paired with a neat quartz countertop for summer dinners where you’d like the heat to be more tamed. If you’re considering working with marble, its uniqueness can help manage the sun’s light with an elegant appeal wherever it is applied. As for outside, if your summer celebrations use a barbecue, include it in your remodeling plans and dress it with some stone ledger tile that can freshen up the look.
The COLOR:
If color is the defining choice, find the one that imitates summer best for you. Before considering an aesthetic, think about what color means to you. If you want your home to be as bright as the sun this season, some lighter colors can make that possible. But if you’re looking for something to resist the heightened sun, some cooler color tones are prepared to bring over the fresh essence that may be needed. Lighter colors can help keep an airy feeling that you might find on a sunny day, running through a grassy hill with no trees or shade, but having the company of the fresh wind to hold off against the heat. If that’s not the feeling you’re going for, then perhaps you’d like something cooler, like the breeze you feel by the ocean dock staring at the sea waves. Colors impact the aesthetic you’d like to form. Still, if they can’t make you feel the right way when making your summer memories, you may feel like something more is missing from the overall look.
The AESTHETIC
Considering all the above factors, we’ve prepared a couple of aesthetic groupings for you to consider. However, how you pair your house is entirely up to you; these products can be paired in any way you’d like.
